What is the Cybersecurity Philippines?

On the other hand, The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012, or Republic Act No. 10175, is a law that regulates the crime of cybercrime in the Philippines. 

This law was signed by President Benigno Aquino III on September 12, 2012. 

Also, the law covers the following crimes:

  • 1. Cyber-squatting or registering a website using a domain name that is similar to an existing trademark or personal name in which you do not have rights to use it.
  • 2. Data interference or accessing a computer system without authorization and altering important information in a computer system including destroying data.
  • 3. System Interference or accessing a computer system without authorization and altering important information in a computer system including destroying data.
  • 4. Cybersex or committing any of the following acts.
  • 5. Cyber-squatting or registering a website using a domain name that is similar to an existing trademark or personal name in which you do not have rights to use it.

Goals

The goal of this law is to prevent and suppress cybercrime in the Philippines. In addition, the goal of the cybersecurity R&D program is to improve cybersecurity. 

This program will promote research and development in various fields of cybersecurity. In addition, this program will also promote the growth of the cybersecurity industry in the country.

Meanwhile, it aims to develop a strong knowledge base on cybersecurity among students and non-students alike through training and awareness programs. 

Also, it aims to encourage collaboration among government agencies, business entities, and educational institutions

Meanwhile, the Philippines is also a member of the International Multilateral Partnership Against Cyber Threats (IMPACT). This partnership aims to prevent and suppress cybercrime.
